Our services include everything imaginable on the audio spectrum. From concept to realization and post-production.
We provide acoustic consultancy in combination with system designs that match, design and create specific software and custom solutions.
Every single production is unique in it's own creative and technological way. We are convinced that our services can provide everything needed for that production.
A concise overview of our services:
Compaenen is collective of inspired creative and technically skilled people. We're proud to think of our collective as a team.
Because we believe that working with great people is the best start of a great achievement.
Born in 1977, Bas came in contact with music at a young age and instantly was fascinated by it. While playing saxophone at a high level his curiosity to the technical side of sound was stimulated during high school. This curiosity grew after he started working part time at a local audio company during this period.
After his school period Bas started working in theatre and was head of sound for many smaller and bigger tours. Beside his work in theatre Bas also can be found at festivals and events as system- and sound engineer. Trying to make every production a great experience for everybody, from colleague to artist to audience, Bas puts his heart and soul in every production.
Bas is a frequent practitioner of yoga. He even travels to Thailand to deepen his practice. Beside that you can find him enjoying pizza & prosecco, a hobby he shares with Dennis, eating a classic cornetto, a guilty pleasure, and whistling one of his favourite songs.
Favourite music : Bas has a wide taste in music, but the sound of a full big-band makes him smile instantly.
Bo is a founding member of Compaenen. He has been working in the entertainment business since 1986. Originally started off as a bass player with his preliminary schooling at the Rotterdam Conservatory.
From 1988 off Bo works as a freelance engineer working mostly at festivals and music events as a FOH engineer, monitor and systems engineer. Gradually changing his playing field to theatre productions. Besides the engineering part Bo also designed a lot of the shows he was working for. Bo was a teacher for several years I.A.B. (Institute for audio engineering and lighting) as a field expert.
What drives him: is bringing the emotion that happens on stage to the audience.
Bo loves cooking for family and friends, drinking good wines, scuba diving, visiting the sauna and sailing, not in that particular order.
Favourite music: As long as there is melody, heart and soul in the performance I can listen to anything.
Dennis is a founding member of Compaenen. He has created numerous sound designs and engineered a variety of events, shows and installations.
Coming from a musical background Dennis achieved his degree at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. After graduating he started of with small theatre tours while developing his skills in other fields like international touring with bands like Simon & Garfunkel & 3 Doors Down. During the following years he gradually developed a personal signature and a strong desire for technical excellence. His work includes sound designs for musical theatre, museums, theatres, pop-music and everything in between. Besides his work as a designer/engineer Dennis teaches at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and various other institutes, manages his own music studio and provides consultancy services.
What he loves most is taking care of Indie, his son. Cooking food for loved ones or being cooked for is loved too. Especially pizza’s & prosecco, a hobby he shares with Bas, are on the top of the menu. He also likes an early morning run or going to the movies.
Favorite music: Loves to listen to Radiohead, Alt-J and Tame Impala.
Ferry Alons was born in 1988. He has always been interested in technology. When he was ten years old, trying to build his own transistor radios, he became more and more interested in the sound and music coming thru these radios. At the age of twelve he decided to follow violin lessons using the violin his dad made.
After Ferry graduated from the HAVO, he went to the school for theatre and technology at Deltion Zwolle, but he was not really satisfied by this school and wanted more. After a year Ferry decided to start an internship at one of the leading rental companies at that time to develop his skills in practice and ending up working here for three years.
In 2011 he decided the time was there to start his own business as a freelance live sound engineer. Ferry started to work for several of the leading rental companies and he soon discovered that it’s all about the eagerness to learn new things and about teamwork; maybe most important of all. Since then time went super-fast. Despite his relatively short career until now he has worked for many clients and artists on a broad variety of productions including theatre tours, festivals and large scale corporate events all over the world.
Steven Pollema, created in 1984. Raised in a family consisting of social workers, teachers and other very social human beings. For many it was a surprise that he wanted to be a professional drummer. He planned on joining the Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, but first needed to complete his theatre technology course at GLR in the same city. After an internship at one of the leading sound rental houses at the time, he accepted a job as a full-time sound engineer at the same company, postponing his career in music for a few years.
In 2007 he decided he wanted to build his career as a sound designer/engineer instead, and continued as a freelancer. Eight years later, he can look back at an impressive list of music, theatre and corporate events in all corners of the world. Nowadays, he works for artists, venues, production and rental houses as a sound designer, engineer and/or consultant, with a specialism for large public events in the United States.
Steven loves playing his drums, acting weird with his kids, eating fresh cut french fries with red meat.
Favorite music: Too much to mention, but get’s grey hairs from EDM and everything in less than uncompressed file formats.
Information coming soon.
Wouter Janmaat was born in 1991. After deciding to pursue a theatre technical career when finishing high school, he started studying Theatre and Technology at the Amsterdam School of Arts. During these four years, Wouter specialized in sound technology and engineering and did internships with various sound designers.
After graduating, Wouter did various things, ranging from broadcast sound engineering to sound engineering for musical theatre as an A2. Alongside his day-to-day job, Wouter creates software for theatre use at his own company Flow Showcontrol. What he loves most is pursuing the best sound experience, both technically and musically.
When he’s not at work, he enjoys playing the piano, eating Italian food and enjoying time with friends.
